'The days of playing one style of music all night have pretty much gone. Today's crowds want a diverse mix of sounds, with the emphasis on quality music to get the dancefloor rocking.'
Slinky

Biog

Slinky's DJ career kick started in 1994 when attending the London College of Fashion, where he became resident DJ for the 'The London Institute' college parties at Heaven. Off the back of this, he and some friends created the infamous 'Debbie Does Dallas' parties. As co-promoter and resident DJ, these hugely successful parties captured London clubland's imagination, with venues such as RAW, The Cross, Ministry of Sound and The Aquarium hosting the now legendary events, with DJ's such as Smokin Jo, John Kelly, Jeremy Healy, Danny Rampling and Judge Jules.

After college, The Vault Nightclub in Northampton offered him the position of promotions manager / resident DJ, playing alongside the likes of Graeme Park and Allister Whitehead. Through this, a residency with God's Kitchen and a weekly radio show on Inspiration FM was also secured. The following summer a 2 week holiday to Ibiza turned into a 4 month work trip, when he was offered the residency at 'The Milk Bar', along with a weekly slot at 'Mambos', and pre party work from London house institution 'Garage City'.

On returning to the UK, Slinky took on the role as assistant events co-ordinator at London's exclusive 'Hanover Grand', which hosted Seb Fontaine's legendary 'Malibu Stacey' events, alongside MOBO award winning urban event 'Fresh and Funky'. DJ wise, he became Red Devil Energy Drink National DJ of the Year, touring at venues such as Chase and Shindig in Newcastle, Sugar Shack in Middlesborough, Back to Basics in Leeds and Gatecrasher in Sheffield.

After finishing this tour, he packed his records and flew to Thailand, where he and a group of English lads set up residency for 3 months at Tin Tin's Nightclub on Phi Phi, one of the most beautiful islands in the world, and the setting for the film 'The Beach'. The boys then headed off to Melbourne, Australia, where Slinky could be found playing at numerous clubs and bars around the city's exuberant music scene.

On returning to the UK, Slinky took on the role as promotions manager and resident DJ at Luxe, which the previous year had won the BEDA (British Entertainment Design Award) for 'Midland Club of the Year'. Keeping up the high standards set, Slinky brought for the first time to Northampton such luminaries as Bugz in the Attic, Lee Coombs, Mark Rae, Domu, CJ Macintosh, Andy Ward, Ricky Morrison and 1Extra's Aaron Ross. Due to the exposure during this period, Slinky could also be found manning the decks at Pacha and The Egg in London, whilst also reaching the focal point of his career to date - a peak time set in the main room of Fabric for 02, alongside Misteeq.

Following the success of Luxe, Slinky was approached to become resident and promoter of a new club - Niche. Incorporating a bar, restaurant and nightclub over 2 floors, Niche heralded a new clubbing experience in the Midlands, with the soundtrack provided by the best in the business - Stanton Warriors, Trophy Twins, DJ Skully, Oliver Lang and co promotions with Blend, Housonics, Mixmag, Twist, and the world famous Hed Kandi.

Slinky is currently co-promoter and resident at Rocket in Northampton, who since opening 3 months ago have seen a plethora of well respected international talent grace the decks including - Hed Kandi, Annie Mac, Switch, General Midi, Way Out West, A Skillz and Huey Morgan from 'The Fun Lovin Criminals'. Plus, upcoming - 808 State, Jon Carter and Pendulum......

Whilst being a house DJ for over 10 years, Slinky's sets now have a more eclectic feel to them. A set can range from the' uber cool' tech sound of Trentmoller, to rolling back the years with Terence Trent D'Arby. The only two things that CAN be guaranteed during a set are diversity and quality.

On this website are 2 different mixes of sounds, 11 track samplers, charting the direction a 'Slinky Set' may go through the course of an evening.

Enjoy.
